Finally there is a solution for the Wii D2C chipset, the D2CKey mod chip is here and now shipping. The first Wii D2C mod chip is made by the same team that bought us the now famous WiiKey modchip earlier this year. The D2CKey is the very first Wii D2C mod chip in the world to work with these Wii D2C chipset. Please note that the D2CKey will only function on Wii D2C consoles. The first thing you will notice about the D2CKey modchip is how many wires this little modchip has, there is a total of 28 wires for the D2CKey, yes that’s right 28 wires to install these new D2CKey mod chip. So installing the D2CKey should only be done by professionals, make sure you don’t have this modchip installed by someone that only does Wii modchip installs, the D2CKey needs to be installed by someone that knows how to do PS2 modchip installs at least. The other major change to the D2Ckey is the fact they are now using an Actel based controller IC chip, this we heard has done wonders for compatibility with Wii games and detectability of the mod chip.
First reports are that the D2CKey modchip has the best compatibility out of all the Wii mod chip right now, perfect direct booting of Wii games, as well as perfect GameCube direct booting, and even slightly better region support compared to other mod chip's for playing NTSC games on PAL systems and visa versa. This is mainy due to the fact that the D2CKey is basicly a controller patcher for the Wii D2C chipset. One of the advantages of using a DVD controller patching mod chip is the fact that the D2CKey will be able to remain 100% undectable. For those of you that own a Wii D2C console, a solution is finally here. The D2CKey Wii D2C mod chip might be a lot harder to install, but the results will be worth it.

The D2CKey D2C modchip has been designed with user simplicity in mind. After installation, which we add should only be done by a professional, it just works. There is no need to set up the mod chip, reflash, upgrade, or fiddle around. D2Ckey automatically detects what kind of disc is inserted, and configures the drive accordingly. Original and backup Wii and Gamecube games from different regions with the same video system boots directly, and even a lot of games from regions with different video system can be booted directly. Gamecube audiostreaming fix is built-in from the start.

DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, Dual Layer DVD, bitsetting... finding the right recordable media and the right burner isnt always that easy. Some kinds and brands of media and recorders might work better with the Wii drive than others. D2Ckey offers support for most of them from the start, making it simpler for you. The overall performance of D2Ckey is 350Mhz, compared to 8MHz for serial-port based modchip. D2Ckey uses the latest FPGA technology from Actel, which has many powerful features. It has a super-fast, ultra-low-power 1.5V core that will literally remain cool all the time. This means no strain on your Wii and there is no need recalculate your carbon footprint.
Another powerful feature of the D2CKey Wii D2C modchip is that the code is protected by powerful AES128 encryption, making reverse engineering attempts infeasible. Therefore it will be very difficult to find a way to detect or block the D2CKey modchip in the future. In the past modchip and smartcards using less secure devices have eventually been hacked, making it possible to detect them and lock out modified systems. It is safe to say that the D2CKey Wii D2C modchip runs totaly in stealth mode, and it will be very unlikely it will ever be able to be hacked or detected by some outside source.. |

The first generations of Wii drive controllers - known as DMS, all had a serial port interface that could be used to inject code. D2Ckey uses a new approach we call the Intelligent Code Modifying System (ICMS). Instead of the chip just uploading some code and then doze off, ICMS constantly monitors data on address and data buses, patching it if necessary. By interfacing more of the circuitry of the drive controller D2Ckey has stability and compability as main design objectives.
This has several advantages:
- It is virtually undetectable by the Wii hardware
- Improved reading of recordable recordable media
- Backup disc loading will emulate original game disc loading closer
