The D2Prog is the USB programmer used to update the firmware of the D2Pro range of chips. This is the device you need to make sure you are always up to date with the latest firmware that have been released by the team. A good example is the 9-wire firmware update that can be used to make the installation from 19-wires down to just 9-wires. The first versions of the D2.Pro chips did not come with the SPI flash chip on the PCB which is needed for this latest 9-wire firmware from the team, so in conjunction with the D2Prog you will also need to solder a SPI flash chip onto the PCB before installation and then use the D2Prog to flash the chip with the latest 9-wire firmware.
The D2Prog have been bundled with these SPI flash chips for people that need to update their older D2Pro chips for the 9-wire firmware. You just need to solder the SPI flash chip onto the PCB prior to flashing the new 9-wire firmware and everything will be fine. For those people that bought bulk chips and are in need of the SPI flash chips alone, please email us as we have some extra here we could sell. Please note the new version of the D2Pro chips will come with the SPI chip already installed onto the PCB, they will also come with the 9-wire firmware pre-flashed ready to go. The best way to tell the old version from the new one is to look at the photo and see if it has a SPI flash chip is on the top left of the PCB. More info on this can be found on the team’s website. We will have the new 9-wire SPI versions of the D2Pro in stock around the end of April, once you see the photo change from the original to the new SPI version, and we have updated the wire count in the product description, you know we have the new 9-wire versions in stock.
