This product is mainly aimed for the people that have those new D2E Wii drives with the Epoxy on the board, these new D2E drives make using a Wii-Clip no longer possible because they have put a black epoxy resin on the board to try and stop people installing all chips. So we decided the best solution for people that have these new D2E drives would be to offer them a complete drive replacement bundled with a Solderless WiiKey 2. These pre modded Wii DVD drives are a complete plug and play solution and will work on any Wii console from any region, so you don’t have to worry about checking serial numbers as these drives will work on any Wii anywhere in the world, only two cables that need to be connected after clipping on the WiiKey 2 chip, there is absolutely no soldering required for installing these pre-modded Wii drive packs. The only thing that needs to be done after installation is to download the config disk and update the chip and setup the settings you want in the config disk menu, we highly recommend using the brick blocker that is in the config disk.
The WiiKey 2 is the very latest chip to be released on the market and we thought the best to bundle with these pre-modded drives for a few reasons, firstly for the brick blocker function we mentioned above, this feature will make sure you have no chance of damaging your Wii by accepting a Wii system update from a game outside your consoles region, another is the fact that we know the team will be supporting these chips with firmware updates which we have already seen with the release of the v1.2 config disk only weeks after the chips release, and lastly because we know the quality of hardware used on these chips will outlast any other chip on the market and are perfect to use in a slightly expensive solution such as these pre-modded Wii drives. In all, we want these drives to last as long as your Wii does, so the chip we use has to be up to scratch as well as the drive itself.
All our premodded drives come with a 6-month replacement warranty on all parts, if the laser or the chip fail in the first 6-months, you just need to send us back the drive and we will replace it for you, we decided to package these drives with a solderless version of the WiiKey 2 instead or installing it with wires for a couple of reasons, the main one being that if you ever need to for whatever the reason take the chip out of the console you can, with wires once the chip is in, it’s in, with the solderless chips you have the option to remove them at any time. A good example let’s say is the kids accidently drop the Wii and break the DVD drive, you can just simply remove the solderless chip buy another drive and clip it on to the new replacement drive. If you had bought a drive with a chip actually soldered in with wires you would have to pay someone to remove the chip from the old drive and solder it on to the new one. So in the end we think these pre modded drives are better being sold with a solderless solution then us soldering a chip on to them with wires. I am sure you can all think of some more scenarios why having a solderless chip on these pre-modded drives would be an advantage over having one soldered in with wire. So if you have been unlucky and got one of these new D2E drives with the epoxy over the drive board and live in an area where there is no one that installs chips, these pre-modded Wii drives will be your best solution to get your console modified.
Also note the good thing about buying a complete pre-modded Wii drive like this is the fact you will have spare parts from your old drive, so if like we said above the kids drop the Wii and break either the laser or part of the drive mech, you will be able to take the laser from your original drive and place it in this new one to make it good as new again. The cost of a Wii laser can be around $50USD and a complete drive around $100USD, so when you take that in to account these complete drives are a bargain and close to the cost of buying a Solderless chip if you put value on the laser & mech from your old drive. Note it would also be possible to sell your old D2E epoxy drive on EBay and get good money for it there as well, so that’s another option to reduce the cost of this package.
