If you have been a fan of this brand of chips over the years the PS2 Modbo 4.0 v1.93 modchip is the most stable and reliable out of all the different models and firmware versions on the market these days. There were some v1.99 models released but these had problems with the 9000x consoles where the v1.93 doesnít and is the most stable firmware version. If you are looking for the best version of the Modbo 4.0 on the market these stocks are it. They will support v5 consoles right up to the last model 9000x consoles. They support all region PS2 games, all region PS1 & DVD movies as well. They will also allow you to use the HDD loader function and have that nice little configuration settings menu which you can access to change some of the chips functions. There is only one other chip we would recommend over the Modbo range these days and thatís the Mars GM-816HD, if you donít know about those check them out as we sell them as well.
The install process for any PS2 chip is a very complex one, the Modbo 4.0 modchip should really only be attempted by someone that has done intricate soldering before, these are not something a novice should attempt and we have seen people before using cheap hobby soldering irons really make a mess and killed their PS2 consoles. The soldering required to install one of these is extremely complex and some points there is as little as 1mm space between points. They also require a decent temperature controlled soldering iron with the smallest tip possible. Itís also highly recommended that you use USA made 30-AWG Kynar for all data points and a thicker multi-core wire for power and ground.
Something to note is that if your console is a 7000x model slim it might not be a good idea to chip it. This is because these model consoles required a laser fix, the best one and the only one we really knew worked was the SubZero fix which are no longer made. While the PS2 Modbo 4.0 ships with a Diode fix we really donít think much of these and so if you have a 7000x model we honestly think you would be better of trading it for another model instead.

Please note that the Aus PAL consoles *need* the "H" point connected. This point is normally only used on NTSC consoles, but our Aus PAL consoles require this point to function. As the PAL diagrams do not show "H" point, use the USA diagrams for v9 to v16 & the JAP diagrams on v5 & v7 for only the "H" point.
-=( v5 & v7 consoles )=- A controller must be plugged in for the chip to function. This is only the case on v5 & v7 models, all other versions do not need a controller plugged in to function.
