These are a refurbished PS3 power supply replacement model APS-240 for the later model 40GB, 80GB & 160GB consoles. If your PS3 does not power on at all the chances are the power supply has died and you will need to replace it with another one such as these model APS-240 PS3 power supply. There is no soldering required when changing the PS3 power supply and so most people would be able to do it at home themself without too much fuss. There should be some videos on YouTube that show how to change these PS3 power supply model APS-240 for the 40GB, 80GB & 160GB consoles. Note these PS3 power supply are multi-voltage, so they can be used in EU, USA, JAP consoles without any problems, you just need to make sure you are ordering the correct model that is the same as the one already in your console, see below for more information on how to determine what model power supply is in your console.
Below we have a table that will give you an idea what power supply will be in your PS3 console, but just note you really should take the console apart before you order and check visually yourself which power supply is in your console so that you order the correct one, we also have photos below to show you the difference between the two power supplies found in the PS3 consoles. Note the 20GB, 60GB & early 40GB will have the first model APS-231 which you can identify by it being a bare silver metal colour. If you have one of the newer 40GB, 80GB or 160GB consoles it will have the APS-240 power supply which you can see by the photo is a more rounded looking unit and is black in colour. As we said above the best thing to do would be to take the console apart before you order to check which PS3 power supply you have in your console and then order accordingly.
