These are a Samsung MS28 converted into a Samsung Kreon drive v2 using the MS28 & 360 Power Unit from the USB Xtractor, we have been able to convert these MS28 into a Kreon DVD drive v2, these give the same function as a Samsung Kreon SH-D162 or SH-D163 to enable you to make backups of your original Xbox 360 titles. While not as practical as the original Samsung Kreon drive simply because the MS28 has plastic stands that stop it from easily being placed in a PC, they work just as well if not better than the original Kreon drives, also the price of them is quite reasonable and lower than Kreon drive. For most just plugging the drive into your PC when needed and sitting it on top of the PC case is good enough, it’s not like you need them connected all the time, so these drives are a really good option.
Using these Xbox 360 Kreon v2 drives is fairly simple, just plug the power into the back of the drive and a SATA cable to your motherboard, the Kreon drive will then show up in windows as a normal DVD reader, then you just need to install the latest version of Xbox 360 Backup Creator and use this to make legitimate backups of your original games and then burn, note you should have IMGBurn installed, as the backup creator software links to IMGBurn to make the burn of your backup on your DVD burner after you have made an image.
Also this drive can serve as a backup if your original 360 drive dies, the 360 power unit used to give the drive eject and power from the PC can also be used as a flashing tool, as it gives you eject, power & mode-b function, so you can use the 360 power unit to download the firmware from your original drive and with a VIA SATA card installed flash the MS28 with your key and firmware and it can be installed in your console, or if you need to do a firmware update on your drive you can use the 360 power unit on your original drive to flash update the firmware with jungle flasher, note for Lite-On owners you would need to spear part of the Xtractor to do this.
