Well there has been a little bit of a wait, but finally the Solderless D2Pro is here. This is a 100% solderless solution for those out there that have those nasty new D2C2 consoles that started to come into the market around March 2008, or the brand new D2E consoles that started showing up in June 08. This package can also be used in the older D2C models if you wish to have the latest chip in your machine, but being honest if you have an older D2C model, you could save some cash and grab one of the solderless D2CKey instead. This product is mainly aimed at those customers that have the new D2C2 & D2E Wii consoles and want a solution that does not involve any soldering at all, or like we said above for those customers that want to have the latest chip for their D2C machine that also has DVD upgradeability support. So if you are the owner of a new D2C2 Wii console and want to eliminate any soldering or the possibility of damage to your Wii, these solderless D2Pro will be your best solution for the D2C2 & D2E Wii consoles.

Please note that all 9-points have been soldered for these clip / chip combo which will only allow you to use them in D2C / D2C2 or D2E wii’s, this combo pack is not designed to be used in the older Wii consoles like the DMS or D2B etc, even tho the D2Pro will work in them, we have soldered the points on the clip for them to be only used in D2C or D2C2 wii’s. If you’re looking for a solution for an older wii console, checkout the solderless WiiKey we have instead, it also costs a lot less and really there is no difference in function between this product and the WiiKey one for these older consoles. Unlike the D2CKey soldered to the Wii-Clip where we need to select your consoles region by soldering a jumper before you buy, the solderless d2pro enables all region support by you just simply inserting an original game from your consoles region and booting it, after this has been done your Wii will now play games from any region in the world. So there is no need for you to order the version of the product that suites your console region, as the solderless D2Pro has software region select instead of using the psychical jumper that needs to be soldered.

Also note that this package comes with a single wire, this wire is used if the chip does not work right away in your console. From first reports no one has had to use this wire yet, but the Wii Clip team must have seen one or two consoles that needed it. As we said, so far none of the consoles we have seen have needed this wire connected and were a 100% solderless solution, but you need to bare in mind that if this chip does not work right away you should un-bridge clock point on the Clip and solder the J wire directly from the chip to the board as they have it listed in the wii clip diagram. We really don’t think any of you will have to do this, but though it better to inform you of it now just in case it does happen so you will know what to do.

WARNING

Please note for the USA & Canada that serials higher than those listed below are not a 100% chance of having an epoxy D2E drive, at this moment it’s around a 50% chance it will have epoxy and 50% that it won’t. So if you have a console with a serial number higher than the ones listed below, you could buy a Tr-Wing screwdriver and open your console to be 100% sure what you have and then buy the appropriate solution, be it this chip for drives without epoxy, or the pre-modded Wii drive, DriveKey or Wasabi DX for ones with epoxy. Also note that the USA & Canada have two ranges of serial numbers for the consoles there, for example LU3000 to LU3700 is one serial range and won’t have epoxy on the drives, only consoles with the serial over LU3701 will have a 50% chance of having epoxy, the other serial range for consoles starts at LU5000 and goes up to LU6198 without epoxy on the drives. Both serial number ranges are independent from each other, so if you have a LU3690 you will be safe because you are under LU3701, and if you have a LU6058 or LU5980 for example, you will also be safe because you are under the LU6199.
