Here we have the SunKey Lite v1.3a Solderless D2Sun mod chip for Wii, these chips are aimed at people that have a DMS to D3 drives in their consoles and want the cheapest possible solution for their console without compromising on quality or function. The SunKey v1.3a is one of the latest chips from the team and one of the first noticeable changes is that they now come loaded with a firmware with BCA code that supports the New Super Mario Bros game, not only that they now come with a brick blocker function like the Wasabi & DriveKey, the brick blocker used on the SunKey Lite 1.3a BCA works similar to the DriveKey where it will only allow games from your consoles region to do updates to your machine, this is the best kind of brick blocker. While these chips don’t support future firmware updates, the firmware that is on them now is the very latest from the D2Sun team and with such a low price it’s understandable that they at least lack one or two of the features from the more higher range chips, but with saying that for what you get for your money with the SunKey 1.3a 2010 Solderless D2Sun they are a great buy.
The D2Sun team are possibly the most famous team exporting chips for the Wii from China, they now have a large range of chips that cater to different markets and have proven to be good quality and have high compatibility. We put these chips to the test before deciding to stock them, our tests showed the compatibility and function of these latest D2Sun chips was equal to the other big name chips on the market. We were quite surprised at how smooth these chips did boot every title we tested, there was no hesitation on any of the titles and the chip booted both PAL & NTSC perfectly on a Wii running 4.1 firmware. All region support is on by default, there is no need to play an original game to enable all region support with these chips, just set the switch on the chip to your consoles region then plug and play. Note like other Wii chips they are sensitive to the brand of disc you use, as we recommend with any Wii chip you should be only using Verbatim DVD –R discs unless you want to have problems, so if you do have any problems and you are not using Verbatim DVD-R, go and grab a pack of those as this will fix any read errors you may experience, as we said it’s like this for all Wii chips.
The setup of the SunKey Lite 1.3a Solderless D2Sun mod chip is similar to that of the DriveKey, they have a set of switches that you need to set for your consoles region, this is not really rocket science and the chip has a little guide on it that shows you what position to have the switches depending on what region console you have when installing, if you are un-sure how to set the switches, you are welcome to email us and we will explain it in full for you.
Like we said above, these are great for people that have a DMS to D3 consoles and just can’t afford to go with the DriveKey, but don’t want to settle for something inferior in quality or function, we feel confident in saying that you won’t be disappointed if you decided to buy one of these D2Sun instead, mainly all you will be sacrificing would be the ability to update the chip at a later date, but with the price on these being that low you could buy one and in a year or more needed to upgrade again, it’s not like you have spent $200 on the thing, so in all it’s great value for what you get. These chips will also work in any Wii console no matter the region or drive type except the new D3-2 drives which we have a warning below about, so you don’t have to worry with these chips that you might be buying the wrong chip for your console, as they will work no matter what drive type you have as long as it’s not a D3-2 which only started showing Aug 09. Buy the SunKey Lite v1.3a Solderless D2sun here today!
SunKey Lite v1.3a 2010 BCA Solderless D2Sun

If you bought your Wii console before Aug 09 you don’t need to read this warning, if you bought it after Aug 09 please read on. There has been a new DVD drive released in the latest Wii consoles, they started to show up Aug 09 and the drive is called D3-2, currently there is no chip that will work on these drives, the only option is to replace the DVD drive or drive board, then you can use chips like the Solderless WiiKey 2 or even DriveKey or SunKey Lite v1.3a, we have pre-modded Wii DVD drive packs using the WiiKey 2 which are a perfect option for these new consoles, just pull out the D3-2 drive and put in the pre-modded drive. So far they are not wide spread, we have listed the serial numbers below for each country for when these drives started to show, for AU serial numbers higher than the one listed is about a 60% chance it’s a D3-2, for other countries it’s not so high yet, but that will change as we get closer to Christmas, we have provided a link below to the Wii serial checker, you can use this to see if your console bought after Aug 09 has a high chance of being D3-2 or not, serial numbers lower than the ones listed below are safe and the SunKey Lite v1.3a will work on them. So if your consoles serial number is higher than the ones listed below, it might be best to open the console before you order a chip for it to see if you have a D3-2 drive or not, they are easy to spot as the D3-2 chip does not have any writing on the chip like the D3 drives do, an example photo is shown below so you know what to look for. As we said above, currently there are no chips that work on these drives to allow you to play backups of your original games or originals from other regions, there are some chips coming, but none of them will allow you to play backup games from disk, the WiiKey Fusion is one, and their solution is to play games off SD memory cards for the consoles with D3-2 drives, this idea is quite good, but SD cards do cost a lot more than blank disks, we think the best solution if you have a D3-2 drive right now would be to buy a pre-modded Wii drive pack we sell and replace the drive, this way you will be able to play backups off disk, play games from other regions and be using a great chip like the WiiKey 2 which has the full 6x read speed, advanced brick blocker and GameCube support. The other solution would be the new Wode Jukebox, these will allow you to boot your games from an external HDD and this is also a very good way to go, it just depends if you want to load from disc or from external memory such as SD cards or Hard Drives.
Note that the USA & Canada have two ranges of serial numbers for the consoles there, for example LU3000 to LU3940 is one serial range and won’t have D3-2 drives, only consoles with the serial over LU3941 will have a 25% chance of having a D3-2 drive currently, the other serial range for consoles starts at LU5000 and goes up to LU7011 which won’t have D3-2 drives. Both serial number ranges are independent from each other, so if you have a LU3911 you will be safe because you are under LU3941, and if you have a LU7002 or LU6980 for example, you will also be safe because you are under the LU7012.
