Here we have the Solderless D2Sun v1.5 mod chip for Wii, these chips are aimed at people that have a D2C2 or D2E consoles and want the cheapest possible solution for their console without compromising on quality or function. The D2Sun v1.5 is one of the latest chips from the team and one of the first noticeable changes is that they now include an external on / off switch like some of the other high end chips from this team. Note that you do not have to install this switch and it is an optional add-on. Another great use for this chip apart from D2E consoles is for people with D2B consoles with the legs cut, until now there has not been any solderless solution for them as the WiiKey would not work, so if you are the owner of a D2B with the legs cut, these Solderless D2Sun v1.5 will be a awesome solution as well.
The D2Sun team are possibly the most famous team exporting chips for the Wii from China, they now have a large range of chips that cater to different markets and have proven to be good quality and have high compatibility. We put these chips to the test before deciding to stock them, our tests showed the compatibility and function of these latest D2Sun chips was equal to the other big name chips on the market. We were quite surprised at how smooth these chips did boot every title we tested, there was no hesitation on any of the titles and the chip booted both PAL & NTSC perfectly, even the troublesome ones such as SSBB worked first time. All region support is on by default, there is no need to play an original game to enable all region support with these chips, just plug and play.
The setup of the Solderless D2Sun v1.5 mod chip is slightly different to that of the D2Pro or WiiKey chips, they have a set of switches that you need to set for your drive type and region, this is not really rocket science and if you are un-sure of your drive type or how to set the switches, you are welcome to email us and we will explain it in full for you, we have also added a picture below that shows you which position you need the switched for each drive type and console region.
Like we said above, these are great for people that have a D2E console and just can’t afford to go with the D2Pro, but don’t want to settle for something inferior in quality or function, we feel confident in saying that you won’t be disappointed if you decided to buy one of these D2Sun instead. These chips will also work in any Wii console no matter the region or drive type, so you don’t have to worry with these chips that you might be buying the wrong chip for your console, as they will work no matter what drive type you have. Solderless D2Sun V1.5 Features

WARNING
As of Nov 08 there have been new D2E drives found so far in the Australian and Europe markets that have had a black epoxy resin applied to the DVD drive that will stop the use of the Wii-Clips, we have a photo below of what they look like, this epoxy means you are won’t be able to use the Solderless chips on these drives as it stops the clip from being able to be applied to the drive. The good news is they have only just started showing in the Aus & EU markets and since Dec they have started to show in the USA & Canada, below is a list of the serial numbers from when these boards started showing, so if you have just bought your Wii in Nov or later you should make sure you have a serial number lower than the ones on the table below, if you have a serial higher than the ones listed you will most likely have one of these new boards and you won’t be able to use the Solderless D2Sun v1.5. All consoles bought before Nov 08 will be safe and won’t have epoxy on the boards. The good news for people that have just bought their Wii and have a higher serial number than what is on the table below is that we also sell a complete pre-modded Wii drive replacement bundle with a Solderless chip, this is a more expensive solution, but for those in a place with no installers it could be your best option.
Please note for the USA & Canada that serials higher than those listed below are not a 100% chance of having an epoxy D2E drive, at this moment it’s around a 50% chance it will have epoxy and 50% that it won’t. So if you have a console with a serial number higher than the ones listed below, you could buy a Tr-Wing screwdriver and open your console to be 100% sure what you have and then buy the appropriate solution, be it this chip for one without epoxy, or the pre-modded Wii drive for ones with epoxy. Also note that the USA & Canada have two ranges of serial numbers for the consoles there, for example LU3000 to LU3703 is one serial range and won’t have epoxy on the drives, only consoles with the serial over LU3704 will have a 50% chance of having epoxy, the other serial range for consoles starts at LU5000 and goes up to LU6198 without epoxy on the drives. Both serial number ranges are independent from each other, so if you have a LU3690 you will be safe because you are under LU3704, and if you have a LU6058 or LU5980 for example, you will also be safe because you are under the LU6199.
