Here we have a totally solderless Wii mod chip version of the WiiKey using the Wii-Clip v3, we have soldered the WiiKey on to the clip for you, and so no soldering is required at all for its installation. If you are the owner of an older Wii DMS, D2A or D2B console, these solderless Wii Modchip really are the easiest way to install a chip without ever having to lift a soldering Iron. Once again we will happily say that using a combo like this really does reduce the chances of damaging your Wii trying to install a chip dramatically, as unlike when soldering a chip in especially when you are a novice, these clips can’t cause the same kind of damage a soldering iron can in the wrong hands. So if you have never used a soldering iron or just not confidant enough in your soldering abilities, these solderless WiiKey will be your best option. Please note that this clip is not compatible with D2B consoles with the legs cut off the controller IC, even though the WiiKey will work with these drives, the clip cannot function as the legs on the controller are not present and thus the clip can not make connection to these vital points to function. Before you order you should check your Wii’s serial number on the serial number checker page below, if the page says there is even a slight chance that it’s a D2B console with the legs cut off, you should first get a Tri-Wing screwdriver and open the Wii to be 100% sure the legs are not cut on the controller IC. D2B models with the legs not cut are fine to use with this clip. Also note that the solderless WiiKey chip is not compatible with D2C Wii consoles, also check to make sure you do not have a D2C console, if the serial checker says you do or there is a good chance, you need to use a chip such as the D2CKey for these model Wii. Once again if the serial checker is giving you something like 50% chance D2B, 50% chance D2C, you should really open up your Wii before you order to make 100% sure which model you have, so you can order accordingly.
