The WiiKey we believe is the best Wii mod chip solution for the Nintnedo Wii console to date. There are a few Wii mod chips on the market now, the Wii-Ninja , Cyclo-Wiz , WiiD & the WiiKey, why the WiiKey is a better Wii modchip solution to the other chips firstly is because it was made by Team Xeno, responsible for a great line of products such as the Xeno 360, XenoGC and more. The WiiKey is simply put, the best performing Wii modchip on the market right now. We did not experience a single issue during our lengthy testing. We were so impressed with the quality of the WiiKey that we decided to take the plunge and add one to a Wii D2B console. It also performed 100% as advertised without a hiccup. If you’re looking for the best Wii modchip to be using in the Wii consoles, even the D2B model with the 3-legs missing, the WiiKey is it. The WiiKey is also a fully flash upgradeable Wii mod chip, now as we know this means nothing unless the team behind the chip is as vigilant about working on firmware updates as they are producing the chips. With Team Xeno you can be assured their will be firmware updates over the year, promising to add cool and handy new features to the Wiikey’s function.
For NTSC Wii consoles, the WiiKey will support games from all NTSC regions not matter which NTSC region console you own. They have also got partial support for NTSC games working on PAL Wii systems at around 75%, expect this to be improved with future firmware updates over the next year. Another handy feature of the WiiKey is the wireless design, the WiiKey’s PCB slips into place on the drive for quick soldering directly to the board without the use of wires. This was improved on with the WiiKey v4 PCB’s which added special PTH quick flow solder pads to make the solder flow much neater. In all we truly believe that the WiiKey will be the best Wii mod chip solution for the Wii console this year.
*Warning For All Wii Mod Chips*
Make sure that your Wii bios is up to date at all times, because if you play for example Mario Striker NTSC which does have a bios update on the disk and you have not updated your PAL Wii bios to the latest version, the game will try and update your PAL console with the NTSC bios. This is very bad and can kill the Wii console itself.
The way to get around this is to always make sure you are running the very latest update for your Wii before playing any NTSC games that have bios updates on PAL consoles. The same is to be said for running PAL games with bios updates on NTSC consoles.
This has nothing to do with the WiiKey itself, it can happen if you have Cyclo-Wiz , WiiD or any other Wii mod chip installed. It’s due to the fact that the Wii console has no built in auto protection to detect that the bios being updated is from an incorrect region. At this stage, only some official Nintendo games have bios updates on them.
Please note that the WiiKey does not support the new Wii D2C chipsets. Before you order a chip for your Wii console, you should check the serial number on the page below to make sure you do not have a Wii console with the D2C chipset. If you have a D2C model, you will need to use the new D2CKey to mod these consoles.
