Here we have the third top end chip for Wii, the Wiizard v2 modchip is the other chip on the market that directly competes with chips such as D2Pro & Wasabi. So far the Wiizard has been given a good wrap by installers that have used them as being the fastest booting chip of all on the market. These chips were made by the team that brought the very first Wii chip on to the market being the WiiNinja. We decided to stock these chips particularly for those installers out there that are finding it hard to compete in such an aggressive market these days for D2C / D2C2 & D2E installs, with the current drop of all currencies and the price of the other chips being so high, we saw the need to offer installers a chip with the same quality and reliability of the other top two selling chips, but at a slightly more aggressive price for that same quality. We did look at some of the other chips floating around china for a good price, but being honest we thought it better to stick with one of the top end “original” chips and try to offer them at close price to what these cheap china chips are going for.
With that being said, these Wiizard mod chip’s really are just as good as the D2Pro & Wasabi, so we think this will be a god sent to those installers that really need to reduce the cost of their installs without reducing the quality of chip they are using. The WiiZard like the other top enders supports DVD upgrade, 9-wires on D2C / D2C2 & D2E and just 5-wires on DMS / D2B etc. The maker of these chips is also the one that codes for them, so like D2Pro these chips will have quick solutions to any problems that may occur in the future that will require a firmware update. Note that we are selling the latest v2 PCB design that has a 101 resistor point on the PCB for clock stability.
The Wiizard does not have an auto drive detect built in, this is controlled by placing solder on the appropriate pads to enable support for that drive type or console region. This is not a complex method and has some advantages as they will not suffer from any of the auto drive type / region bugs some chips have from trying to auto detected the drive type. We have seen a few bugs in all the major chips that have auto drive type detection, some have been rectified and some not, so it’s good to know from an installer point of view that the hard mode for selecting drive type means they won’t have customers coming back with drives that sometimes lock at boot because the chip was unable to sync to the right drive type in the firmware.
Once again we believe that these chips will be the choice of installers, they are at the right price with the right quality to mean there is no compromise when needing to source something slightly cheaper than the other two top end chips on the market for their day to day installs.
