The Xecuter Nand-X v3 JTAG kit for Xbox 360 is the latest nand flashing / JTAG kit for 360 consoles, the Nand-X allows you to read and write to the nand firmware chip on the Xbox 360 motherboards, this has a couple of uses, the first being people that have lost the DVD key for the drive on their console, be it though bad flashing or from the drive totally dying and thus not being able to read the key out from the drive, you can use the Xecuter Nand-X to read the DVD key out from the motherboards NAND firmware chip to then imbed back into your drives firmware or the new drive if you are replacing a dead drive. Until recently a console where the DVD key from the drive was lost there was no way to get the console running again, now using the Xecuter Nand-X you can safely extract the DVD key from the 360’s motherboard to bring those consoles back to life.
The second and possibly most popular use for the Xecuter Nand-X v3 is to JTAG hack the 360 with a custom homebrew firmware, this will allow users to run 3rd party applications like XBMC (Xbox media centre) and more, this really opens up the door to what you will be able to do with your 360 console, no doubt soon there will be a host of homebrew apps that will expand the way you use your Xbox 360. One of the more popular homebrew firmware’s for the Xbox 360 out now that you can JTag flash using the Xecuter Nand-X will allow you to not only install and use 3rd party homebrew apps, but it will allow you to store all of your original titles on your Xbox 360 hard drive, this means no more having to sort through piles of game cases to find the game you are looking for, no more scratched originals, also loading times are much better because of the fact it’s loading from the HDD instead of disc, another good thing about this is the fact you will drastically reduce the wear on your consoles DVD drive which can only be a good thing.
The Xecuter JTAG kit Nand-X v3 is also a must have tool for repair centres that often receive consoles with damaged DVD drives where the key is not obtainable, or have consoles piled up from the past where the key for the drive was lost and the consoles have been sitting there, now with the Xecuter Nand-X you will be able to recover consoles where the key has been lost, or consoles that have been sitting there with no drive, you can extract the key from the motherboard and flash the key into a replacement drive to get the console running again.
The Xecuter Nand-X JTAG tool kit comes with all the parts you need to solder onto a board to retrieve a DVD key or do a JTAG hack for all board types, be it Falcon, Zephyr, Opus, Jasper or Xenon boards, we have a picture below that shows all the parts and boards included with the Xecuter Nand-X kits. Note for JTAG flashing if you are not using the 2x diode & 1-wire trick on the boards after you have done the JTAG flash, you will need to leave either the JTAG Kit #2 or JTAG Kit #5 installed for Falcon, Zephyr, Opus, Jasper boards, and the JTAG Kit #8 for Xenon boards, without these boards installed the console will not boot after the JTAG hack has been done, we sell these extra kits for the Xecuter Nand-X for people that are doing more than one console with the JTAG flash.
There is only one downside to the whole JTAG hack / DVD key retrieval, and that is the console must be running a certain firmware version of lower for the Xecuter Nand-X to be able to be used, if the console is running a firmware higher than 2.0.7371.0 you won’t be able to use the Xecuter Nand-X, but all consoles running dashboard version 2.0.7371.0 or lower will be able to use the Nand-X, so that’s something to check before you buy for an end user, and something to keep in mind for service departments wanting to recover dead consoles. To check what version dashboard the console is running, go into the Console Settings menu and then System Info tab and it will display the dashboard version on the top right of the screen.
